Stonebridge Infrastructure Debt Fund I LP (“Fund I”) was launched in 2012 to provide private debt financing for the construction and operation of infrastructure and energy assets.

Fund I was developed with the support of PPP Canada Inc., with total capital commitments of approximately $201.5 million, provided by a number of Canadian institutional investors including the Business Development Bank of Canada and a group of Canadian pension funds. Fund I was fully invested within 15 months, in 12 unique private debt transactions. Fund I is closed to new investors.

In late 2014, inspired by the overwhelming success of Fund I, Stonebridge launched Stonebridge Infrastructure Debt Fund II L.P. (“Fund II”). As of 2016, a total of $274.2 million in capital commitments have been provided by Canadian institutional investors including pension funds, insurance companies and the Business Development Bank of Canada. Fund II is currently open to new investors.

Managed by Stonebridge Financial Corporation, Fund II investments consist of fixed rate, senior construction and take-out debt with transactions generally falling into one of the following categories:

  1. Social infrastructure: including hospitals, long-term care facilities, schools, universities, correctional facilities, courthouses, subsidized housing, community centres, recreational facilities, roads, bridges, airports, mass transit, and water and waste management systems;
  2. Energy infrastructure: including public or private producers of non-merchant based energy, pipelines, and transmission and distribution lines.

With Fund II, Stonebridge offers institutional investors access to Canadian investment-grade private debt transactions, characterized by long-term, predictable cash flows and premium returns over comparable government bond yields.
